I am multimedia artist in Los Angeles, California. I worked with Photoshop for several years, but started using Gimp for several reasons. I often run six to ten applications at the same time when I'm building a website and I wanted something simpler, and easier on my cpu. My work is for web so I don't need intense resolutions, but since I do some coding, open source is a plus. I work in a computer store and recently built a photoblog where all the images are being processed in Gimp. I wanted my customers to understand there are alternatives, and most people don't need Photoshop. I am a professional artist, but Gimp has ample features for the work I do, and the community is wonderful.
